"When you think there is no hope, look beyond and believe that there are better things out there for you. Regeneration, with care and effort, is always a possibility."
Dear friends and followers, after the longest time ever, I am back! I've been studying a really intensive course in data analytics (nothing to do with photography whatsoever!) and moved house. My photography had to take a back seat for a while as I had no time to do it....but, now that's all complete, you will see and hear more from me again!
This is the first of my new pictures, aptly titled 'Window on New Beginnings.' Taken a couple of weeks ago in Kotor, Montenegro, a port I visited on my latest cruise to celebrate my birthday. Yes, it was a big one! So here I am, beginning again with photography, in a new decade, with new life aspirations. And this photo sums that up so well to me.
A small island nestles in the bay of Kotor, where just a small church with a long and fearless history rests. Whilst walking around along cobbled stones and up and down uneven, ancient steps, and hearing tales of the island's history and medieval occupants, I caught a glimpse of this plant pot in the open window. Although one might argue that the plant has seen better days, the sea beyond is a bright and inviting aqua blue and the daylight beckons. A metaphor perhaps; when you think there is no hope, look beyond and believe that there are better things out there for you. Regeneration, with care and effort, is always a possibility.
As you know, I love to take pictures that evoke calmness and serene backdrops and this definitely is one of those images for me. The sea was like glass and lapped very gently right up to the window. A very calming place to relax and take in the fresh air, as the light poured in to the dark room.
Look out for more of my images from Kotor and other places I've visited in the coming weeks. It's great to be back! And of course, I'll be doing a lot of updates to the website in due course too and adding new photos!
